France’s Symbol To The World

The Eiffel tower has nearly seven million tourists walk over it annually. At 15 Euros for a lift ticket to the top,it could probably save the French Economy!

It is 324 metres tall and weighs 10,100 tonnes.

It was designed by Gustave Eiffel and was only meant to last 20 years. It was built to celebrate the centenary of The French Revolution, which is a bit odd, considering the Guillotine was the most recognised “tower” back then.

The Eiffel Tower wasn’t Gustave’s only claim to fame. The Statue Of Liberty in New York and the locks of the Panama canal were designed by Eiffel along with many not so famous Bridges,Towers and Rail Engineering projects.

The Eiffel Tower is recognised as France’s symbol to the world.
